OLAMOVE is a smart mobility and cleantech company accelerating the transition to affordable electric mobility and clean energy. We assemble new electric motorbikes, convert suitable fuel-powered ones to electric, and provide electric mobility solutions for individuals and businesses through direct sales, leasing and rental models.

Rwanda's transport sector remains dependent on imported fossil fuels, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, high operating costs and exposure to fuel price fluctuations. OLAMOVE addresses these challenges by replacing internal combustion motorcycles with efficient electric alternatives. Our electric motorbikes can reduce operating and ownership costs by up to 40% while cutting vehicle-related emissions by more than 90%.

Beyond mobility, OLAMOVE promotes a circular battery economy through OlaEnergy, which gives retired electric vehicle batteries a second life in energy storage and backup power applications. Through local assembly, battery repurposing, digital technologies and flexible financing models, OLAMOVE is expanding access to green mobility, creating green jobs and contributing to Rwanda's transition toward a low-carbon economy.

OLAMOVE's goal is to accelerate Rwanda's transition to affordable, low-carbon mobility and clean energy by making electric motorbikes accessible to individuals and businesses while building a circular battery ecosystem.

The project seeks to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower transport costs and greenhouse gas emissions, expand access to reliable electric mobility, and create employment opportunities for young people through local assembly, servicing, technology and clean energy operations.

In the long term, OLAMOVE aims to develop a scalable model that combines electric mobility, battery lifecycle management, second-life energy storage and flexible financing, demonstrating how locally driven innovation can support sustainable transport and economic development across African cities.

Since its establishment in 2024, OLAMOVE has developed and validated an integrated electric mobility and clean energy model in Rwanda.

Key results achieved include:

• More than 100 electric motorbikes assembled and introduced into the market.
• More than 1,000 customers reached through OLAMOVE's mobility activities and service locations.
• Operations established across three locations in Rwanda, including Kigali and Bugesera.
• Creation of green employment opportunities in electric vehicle assembly, operations, engineering and customer service.
• Development of flexible sales, rental, and lease-to-own approaches that lower the barrier to entry for electric mobility.
• Development of OlaEnergy, a circular energy initiative that repurposes retired electric vehicle batteries for household, SME and off-grid energy storage.
• Development of OlaBrain, an AI-powered system as a digital and intelligent layer supporting battery monitoring, lifecycle management and future carbon-impact tracking.

Through continued implementation, OLAMOVE expects to increase the number of electric motorcycles on Rwandan roads, expand its service and charging network, repurpose more batteries for stationary energy storage, create additional green jobs and contribute to measurable reductions in transport emissions and fossil-fuel consumption.
