Description

The Center for Innovation and Avant-Garde in Neuro Robotic Rehabilitation APAC is a pioneering model in Latin America that integrates specialized clinical care, cutting-edge technology, professional training and family accompaniment to transform the lives of people with cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental disorders. This center provides care through a comprehensive care model based on dignity, innovation and collaborative work, therefore, from Mexico, APAC has built one of the most advanced neurorehabilitation ecosystems in Latin America, bringing technologies that have traditionally been out of reach of the most vulnerable families. This project aims to strengthen APAC's Robotic Neuro Rehabilitation model, through the acquisition of another specialized device, in order to expand access to specialized therapies for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions that affect arm and hand movement. Through this technology, the project seeks to improve their functional independence, quality of life, and opportunities for inclusion, providing innovative, accessible, and evidence-based treatments to families who would hardly be able to access this type of specialized care. Beyond expanding services, it seeks to consolidate a Latin American benchmark capable of generating evidence, transferring knowledge and demonstrating that innovation can become an equity mechanism to guarantee the right to comprehensive rehabilitation.

Project goals

To improve the quality of life, autonomy and inclusion opportunities of low-income people with cerebral palsy and other neurodevelopmental disorders by strengthening the APAC Neuro Robotic Rehabilitation Center as a space for comprehensive care, specialized training and community building in Latin America. In addition, it seeks to bring closer and improve specialized treatments through accessible and evidence-based therapies. Finally, as an institutional objective, it seeks to promote access to health services under an innovative model of neurological rehabilitation care that integrates advanced robotic devices, specialized professional training and digital monitoring tools, to increase clinical effectiveness.

Results of the project

The project has transformed neuro-rehabilitation at APAC in Mexico, by combining robotic technology, specialized expertise, and human-centered care.

Through the Atlas 2030 robotic exoskeleton, children and young people with cerebral palsy have gained access to more intensive and engaging rehabilitation, supporting improvements in mobility, motor control, strength, posture, confidence, and participation.

The project has also strengthened APAC’s team through specialized training and knowledge exchange, creating new opportunities for professionals and volunteers to contribute their skills to innovative rehabilitation.

Beyond clinical outcomes, the project has changed how children and families experience rehabilitation: therapy becomes an opportunity to move, explore, achieve and believe in what is possible.

The initiative has positioned APAC as a pioneer in robotic neuro-rehabilitation in Mexico and demonstrated that when technology, professionals, volunteers and families work together, innovation can become a pathway to greater autonomy and inclusion.
